On the lighter side, I thought I would talk about myself on a more personal level. I am a 1980 graduate of Downers Grove North H.S.. I graduated early from High School and served 4 years in the United States Air Force. I was an Electronic Warfare Systems Specialist. I went to technical school in Biloxi, Mississippi. I was then stationed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where I worked on A-10 aircraft. I was there for only a year when I got orders to go to Zweibrucken A.F.B, Germany. I spent 2 years there. I finished getting my private Pilots License there, learned how to hang-glide, visited Paris, and snow skied Switzerland - France - Austria - Yugoslavia.
After my honorable discharge from the Air Force, I went to Iowa State University to get my B.S. in Electrical Engineering. During my Junior year I met my wife (Juli). Juli went to Downers Grove North also, and has been friends with my brother's wife since childhood. College was very exciting and difficult.
In May of 1987, I graduated from college and took a job working for the Navy in Ventura, California. Juli and I married in September of 1987. We missed being away from family but also grew stronger together working through lifes problems on are own. Juli decided to get her scuba license so she could join me enjoying the beautiful California marine life. The California islands and coastline have a lot to offer. We really enjoyed the pleasant climate bicycling, hiking, swimming, camping, flying and snow skiing in California & Utah. In July 1992, we had our first child, Erik and in June 1995, we had are second/last child Jessica. As much as we loved California, we knew our kids needed to be around family. We moved back to Illinois in 1996.
We love the Fox Valley. My family has always said I could live anywhere and be happy. In the winter, my son & I play ice hockey. We all cross country ski and downhill ski. We acitvely bicyle, camp, canoe, walk, run & enjoy Campton Lake and the Fox River during the warm months. We have friends all over the US and enjoy taking vacations to visit.
