St. Charles supports the arts with the Dellora A. Norris Cultural Arts Center (980 seat theater and art gallery), 3 community theaters, 3 art schools, 15 area galleries or studios, 4 dance schools and 3 music schools.
The St. Charles Public Library offers books, audio books, cd's, dvd's, online searchable catalog, interlibrary loan service, technology center, and more. The Library has programs for all ages and is open 7 days a week, year-round.
The St. Charles Park District maintains 1,400 acres of park land with 56 parks. The Park District offers 2 swimming pools, miniature golf, canoe and pedal-boat rentals, 2 skate parks, 7 tennis courts, 2 community centers, a sports complex, and , numerous year-round recreational activities for all ages.
Located in St. Charles are four 18-hole golf courses (2 private and 2 public) and one public 9-hole course (Park District); 18 additional courses are located within 10 miles.
Special events include the St. Patrick's Day Parade; Fine Arts Show in May; Bloomington Gold Corvette Show, Pride of the Fox River Festival and Mid-America Canoe Race in June; the 4th of July Celebration and Kane County Fair in July; Serendipity in August; the Scarecrow Festival in October; and the Holiday Homecoming and Electric Christmas Parade in December.
